Dongchuan Red Land (Chinese Name: 东川红土地) is located in the northeast, over 200 km from Kunming City, at an altitude of 1,800 to 2,600 metres (5,900 to 8,500 feet).
The ancient Chinese craft of bamboo weaving has been practiced in Yiliang County since the time of the Song Dynasty, which reigned in China during the years 960-1279.
It is one of the most ancient traditional handicrafts representing national and ethnic culture of the Yi people. And it reflects Yi people’s way of life, is an expression of their personality and personal tastes in design and fashion.
