Introduction & Highlights

Fuxian Lake is located between Chengjiang City, Jiangchuan District and Huaning County in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, China.

It sits five kilometres south of Chengjiang County and more than 70 kilometres away from Kunming.

Fuxian is a famous freshwater lake in China with excellent water quality. The waters here are crystal clear, referred to by ancient people as "a glassy expanse of water." The lake covers an area of 212 square kilometres, second only to Dianchi Lake and Erhai Lake, and is the third largest lake in Yunnan Province.

Fuxian Lake is the lake with the largest water storage capacity, the largest deep-water lake on the plateau, and the second deepest freshwater lake in China. It belongs to the Nanpan River system, and the lake's surface is shaped like a gourd from north to south. The basin drainage area is 1,053 square kilometres, and the average water depth reaches 87 metres.

The lake surface is very vast, about 32 kilometres long from north to south and 12 kilometres wide from east to west, with a coastline of 93 kilometres.

Fuxian Lake showcases the sand and stones along its shore like gems embedded among the mountains. This is a first-class national drinking water source and one of China's natural lakes with the best water quality.

Fuxian Lake is also the country's largest deep freshwater lake with strong winds, open waters, and clear water quality, making it an unparalleled water sports location. Being situated on a plateau and far from the ocean, the dream of becoming a boat captain seems unattainable. But with the establishment of the Fuxian Lake sailing base, the dream of sailing can be easily achieved. The rippling blue waves and the white sails dotted in the wind have become a major attraction for tourists.

Sailing is a water sport that combines competition, entertainment, sightseeing, and exploration, full of fun and challenges. Since the main driving force of sailing is the wind, it is also an environmentally friendly sport that is well loved.

The Fuxian Lake sailing base is located on the shore of Fuxian Lake in Haikou Town, Haiguan Village. With the hosting of numerous sailing events every year, it has attracted a group of sailing enthusiasts. Sailing on Fuxian Lake, watching the lake and the sky merge into one, and witnessing the alternation of day and night, light and shadow, allows you to experience the beauty of Fuxian Lake up close.

There are various suppliers of sailing experiences available here and the duration can be determined based on your physical fitness.
